Piano Trio - Piano Quartet

Trio Zeitgeist

The Trio Zeitgeist, formed in 2020, is based in Switzerland. Formed by Tim Crawford (violin), Martin Egidi (cello) and Martin Jollet (piano), they are the winners of the first Paul Juon Chamber Music Competition in 2023. As a result of this prize, they are now supported by the Förderkreis Kammermusik Schweiz for all their concerts in Switzerland.
The Trio is one of the most promising chamber music group in Switzerland, and they have performed on several occasions at the Musikdorf Ernen, the Tonhalle Zürich, Lavaux Classic, the Davos Festival, and many other festivals in Switzerland and throughout Europe, including England, France and Lithuania.
The three friends met just before the pandemic lockdowns began, which gave them the opportunity to rehearse the three Schumann piano trios, which became the basis of their playing relationship together. After studying individually at the Musik Akademie Basel for solo and instrumental masters degrees, they are now pursuing a specialised master's degree in chamber music as an ensemble under the direction of Anton Kernjak, Rainer Schmidt and Claudio Martinez Mehner. Acknowledged by their mentors, they have been selected to take part in several masterclasses with Steven Isserlis, Miriam Fried, Denes Varjon and Alexander Lonquich in Basel, and with Claudio Martinez Mehner at the IMS Prussia Cove. The Zeitgeists now spend their time exploring the repertoires of the piano trio and quartet, with Alinka Rowe on viola. Open to all musical styles, from the great repertoire to contemporary music, they perform trios by Helena Winkelman, Michael Jarrell and Jean-Sélim Abdelmoula, who dedicated to them his first trio, "Chant de Siris". Well-rounded musicians, their curiosity has also led them to explore a different repertoire, by arranging piano pieces by Ravel and Fauré for the Piano Trio.In addition to the Paul Juon competition, they have won prizes at the Orpheus competition and were awarded the prize for best recital by the Musik Akademie in Basel in 2022, receiving the highest possible distinction as a chamber music group.
